AMES, Iowa - The No. 25 Iowa State softball team is bound for Phoenix, Ariz. this weekend for the GCU Purple Classic. Iowa State will face GCU and Portland State twice each at the tournament, as well as a game vs. No. 13 Arizona State on Saturday night. Friday and Sunday's games will be at GCU Stadium, while Saturday's games will be played at Arizona State.

- Jamie Pinkerton's Cyclone squad made history on Feb. 23 as the first Iowa State team to ever appear in the USA Today / NFCA DI Coaches' poll. The Cyclones are No. 25 this week.
- Saturday night's game at No. 13 Arizona State will be the first matchup featuring two ranked teams in ISU history.
- At 9-1, the Cyclones are tied for the best 10-game start in program history. Iowa State had not been 9-1 since 2009. The Cyclones became the first team in program history to start a season 8-0.
 - Iowa State ranks No. 3 nationally with 22 doubles on the year.
- The Cyclones boast the nation's leader in doubles this season in Mikayla Ramos (7) as well as the NCAA DI active leader in career doubles in senior Sami Williams (67).
- Williams was named the Big 12 Player of the Week after hitting .438 with two home runs, a double and three RBI at the FAU Tournament.
- Williams is the first Cyclone ever to be named Big 12 Player of the Week three times in her career.
- The Cyclones went 4-1 at the FAU Strikeout Cancer Tournament, including a 3-0 record vs. SEC opponents.
- The Cyclones have won three of their last four games vs. top-25 opponents, including a pair of wins vs. top-10 teams, dating back to 2019. They'll have a chance to add to that total when they face unbeaten No. 13 ASU on Saturday.
- The Cyclones' team speed was on display in a 10-1 Valentine's Day win over Drake. Iowa State tied a school record with seven stolen bases. ISU ranks No. 2 nationally with 16 stolen bases on the season.
- The weekend in Boca Raton was book-ended by wins over Ole Miss. The Cyclones overcame a 5-0 deficit to win in walk-off fashion in the weekend finale. Sophomore Alesia Ranches was the hero vs. Ole Miss, coming through with a 2-RBI, walk-off double to left center, lifting ISU past Ole Miss, 7-6.
