AMES, Iowa – Iowa State (23-13, 0-8 Big 12) fell to No. 7 Texas (29-3, 4-0 Big 12), 11-5, on Saturday afternoon at the Cyclone Sports Complex.
Carli Spelhaug hit her second home run in as many days, while Alesia Ranches went 3-of-4 at the plate with a double and a RBI to pace the Cyclone offense.

Texas hit is first of three home runs in the first at-bat of the game. It was a solo shot off the bat of Janae Jefferson to give UT a 1-0 lead. The Longhorns tacked on an additional run when Lauren Burke scored on a ground out in the second inning.
The Longhorns chalked up five more runs in the third, extending the lead to 7-0. Pitcher Karlie Charles entered in relief following a bases-loaded walk that put Texas in front 4-0. The sophomore from The Colony, Texas, would pitch the final 4.2 innings.
Mikayla Ramos drew a one-out walk in the home half of the inning, followed by Carli Spelhaug's blistering home run over the fence in left field. It was the fourth homer of the year for Spelhaug, and third in eight games of Big 12 play.
Texas answered with a solo home run by McKenzie Parker, putting UT in front, 8-2.
Iowa State second baseman Kasey Simpson collected a RBI double to right in the bottom of the fourth, followed by a Sarah Tyree run on a fielder's choice. A Ranches RBI base hit in the fifth narrowed the Texas lead to just 8-5, but that was as close as the Cyclones would get.
Texas scored two runs with two outs in the top of the sixth, followed by Jefferson's second homer in the seventh, as the Longhorns took game two of the series, 11-5.

Iowa State returns to the Cyclone Sports Complex on Sunday at noon CT for its series finale vs. No. 7 Texas. The game will be broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
