FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Iowa State (6-8, 0-0 Big 12) dropped its opening game of the Wooo Pig Classic against No. 6 Arkansas (14-4, 0-0 SEC), 4-0, Friday afternoon at Bogle Park.
The Cyclones could muster only one hit in the contest, a single to third by Kasey Simpson in the fifth inning. The Iowa State batters struggled to get anything going against Arkansas' Robyn Herron, who sat down 12 Cyclones on the day.
Arkansas struck first with a run in the second inning on an RBI double. A two-run homer in the third and a solo shot in the sixth increased the Razorbacks' final tally to four.
Saya Swain earned the starting nod in the circle and allowed three runs in 2.1 innings. Freshman Jaiden Ralston tossed 1.2 scoreless frames with three strikeouts while Karlie Charles closed the game with a two-inning effort in which she allowed one run.
Swain (2-4) was tagged with the loss in the circle for Iowa State while Herron (4-1) was the pitcher of record for Arkansas.

Iowa State is back in action with a pair of games Friday at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. against Texas A&M – Corpus Christi and North Texas, respectively.
