Iowa State Softball Weekend Primer

After dropping three games at Arizona State last weekend, Iowa State looks to bounce back at the 2023 Wooo Pig Classic in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Cyclones will play six games over the course of the weekend, two each against No. 6 Arkansas, Texas A&M - Corpus Christi and North Texas.

Storylines

Head coach Jamie Pinkerton returns to Arkansas where he served as head coach of the Razorbacks from 2005-2009. Pinkerton led Arkansas to a regional in each of his final two seasons in Fayetteville, the first time in school history the Razorbacks made the post-season in consecutive years.
Pinkerton is 11 wins shy of eclipsing his 150th win as Iowa State's head coach. Additionally, Pinkerton is 11 wins shy of his 500th career victory as a head coach.

Arkansas is 13-3 and is currently ranked No. 6 entering the weekend.
This weekend marks the seventh and eighth meeting between the Cyclones and North Texas. ISU holds a 4-2 advantage in the series.
Texas A&M - Corpus Christi enters the Wooo Pig Classic with a 7-6 record.
Lancer pitcher Primrose Aholelei is ranked 13th in the nation in shutouts after throwing two complete-game shutouts this season. Aholelei is 20th in innings pitched (48.1) and posts a 2.46 ERA and records 37 strikeouts.
