1,500m Completes Bryan Clay, Kansas Relays Continue

AZUSA, Calif. – Iowa State closed the Bryan Clay Invite with the 1,500m, while the Cyclones completed day two at the Kansas Relays.
At the Kansas Relays, Riyah Burns began the day with a wind-legal 100m hurdles best of 14.19 to win her heat and automatically qualify for the final. In 110m hurdles, Grayson Hartman clocked 14.51 as he also won his heat.
Brooklyn Sandvig also put up a big Q winning the first 200m prelim heat with 23.89, while Mikey McClain qualified on the men's side with the fastest prelims time of 21.48w, just over the wind legal limit at 2.2 m/s. Aidan Jacobsen also punched his ticket to the 400m hurdles final with a season best of 54.13.
In the men's discus, Cam Jones led ISU with 180-4 (54.97m) to hit an Iowa State PR and place fourth. Daniel Norris placed fifth, while freshman Brandon Fischer hit a personal best (171-10).
Later on in the night, the 1,500m runners began to race. Bella Heikes and Becca Heitzig both turned in personal bests, with Heikes going 4:17.41, now the fourth-fastest ISU performance, and freshman Heitzig going 4:18.82 to debut on the list at No. 6.
Emanuel Galdino and Devan Kipyego raced among the best of the best in the Elite 1,500m, and clocked 3:41 and 3:42 respectively.
The Kansas Relays continue tomorrow for the final day.
