Paul Beauvy Earns Medalist Honors at the Gopher Invitational

INDEPENDENCE, Minn. - Paul Beauvy starts the season off strong by earning medalist honors at the Gopher Invitational, his second win of his career. Beauvy shot a 67 today, the lowest round in the field to make up two strokes and tie for the lead (-8) with Texas A&M's Aaron Pounds and South Carolina's Frankie Harris. The senior carded three rounds in the 60's (69-69-67), tallied a team-high 11 birdies and finished in the Top-5 in Par 3, Par 4, and Par 5 scoring. The Cyclones jump three spots to tie for fourth with Louisville, carding a 293-284-286=863 (+11).Â
Zach May jumped into the Top-15, tying for 12th. May carded a 75-67-72 (+1) and tallied nine birdies in the tournament. The senior from Christchurch, New Zealand tied for fifth in Par 3 scoring (-1). Dianchao Wu tied for 34th after shooting six-over par today and in the tournament. Wu finishes with four birdies over these past two days.
Jackson McCommon finishes his first tournament as a Cyclone in 71st place (+15). The Memphis transfer shot two-over par today and totaled three birdies over his three rounds. Owen Sawyer finished in 77th after shooting three-over in today's round, and he tallied three birdies these past two days. Julian Geerebaert wraps up his first career tournament tied for 59th (+12). Playing as an individual, the freshman shot a 73-75-77 and carded three birdies throughout the tournament.
Texas A&M wins the Gopher Invitational, shooting even-par and finishing seven strokes ahead of second place South Carolina. Iowa State as a team tied for fifth in Par 3 scoring (+8) and led the field in pars with 185.
The Cyclones are back at it next week in Cincinnati, Ohio at the Bearcat Invitational. The tournament will start on Monday, Sept. 15th and concludes on Tuesday, Sept. 16th.
