By the Numbers
1 – Rachel Van Gorp is the first in Iowa State history to earn a spot on the AVCA Player of the Year Watch List. Van Gorp is also the one and only libero on the Big 12 Preseason Team.
3 – Christy Johnson-Lynch ranks No. 3 all time in Big 12 history with 222 league victories.
7 – Pam McCune had the seventh-highest hitting percentage in program history vs. TAMUCC, hitting 12 kills at 0.733.
9 – Freshman Macie Lupkes nearly had a 10-block match vs. Hawaii, putting up nine block assists.
22 – Christy Johnson-Lynch is in her 22nd season leading the Cyclones.
The 2026 Cyclones
Mesaiya Bettis was dominant at No. 12 ASU hitting nine kills without an error on just 10 swings for a career-high hitting percentage. Bettis hit the first eight without a miss.
In the win at Arizona, freshman D'Aaliyah Kemp had an errorless 10 kills on 15 attempts (.667 hitting) and put up four blocks.
Nayeli Gonzalez (3.42 per set) and Nayeli Ti'a (3.20 per set) lead ISU this season in kills. Gonzalez is on a streak of six matches with 10-plus, while Ti'a nears her 1,000th kill with 935.
Rachel Van Gorp leads the Big 12 averaging 4.54 digs per set this season. Van Gorp has earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week twice this season. Ava Martin has also picked up conference honors this season earning Big 12 Setter of the Week in the first week of awards.
The Opponents
Iowa State leads the all-time series against K-State 58-47, while the series is the second-longest standing for ISU behind Kansas. Last season, ISU and KSU met twice and split the series. In the first meeting of 2025, Iowa State picked up the first win in Manhattan since Sept. 25, 2020. The Wildcats have a ranked win in four sets at No. 20 Creighton, and in Big 12 play, K-State reverse swept UCF but lost to Houston, No. 18 BYU and No. 23 Utah.
The series against Cincinnati stands at 5-1, ISU, with Cincinnati's win coming in 1990. Iowa State and Cincinnati met once last season, with ISU winning in four on the Bearcats home court. In conference play this season, Cincinnati opened against two ranked teams and lost in three vs. No. 11 TCU, lost in four vs. No. 9 ASU and lost in four at Houston. The Bearcats play at UCF Friday before hosting Iowa State.
