Leading Off
Iowa State will wrap a four-game home stand on Tuesday against South Dakota in the teams' second meeting of the season. ISU and USD met earlier in Columbia as part of a tournament hosted by the Missouri Tigers. The Cyclones won the game 9-4.
ISU is coming off a 1-2 weekend against No. 19 Oklahoma State, dropping its first series to the Cowgirls since 2023. The Cyclones will look to get back to their winning ways and maintain their unblemished midweek mark as the team is 4-0 in such games.
South Dakota has lost its last four outings and has dropped eight of its last ten. Over the weekend, the Yotes were outscored by NDSU a combined 35-8. Tuesday's game against ISU is the team's second-to-last midweek of the season.

Scouting the Cyclones
Iowa State's offense is led by senior standout Reagan Bartholomew, who leads the team in batting average (.437), runs (43), hits (55), homers (12) and walks (23). Bartholomew is seventh in the Big 12 in batting average and sixth in hits.
Tatum Johnson has scored the second-most runs (39), owns the second-most hits (50) and leads the team in RBI with 43. Kadence Shepherd is the only other Cyclone with double-figure long balls (11) and is second in RBI (38), while Jessie Clemons is tied with Johnson for the second-most hits.
In the circle, four Cyclones have seen the majority of action. Lauren Schurman leads the way with a team-low ERA of 3.81. Schurman has hurled 110.1 innings, a team-high, and owns 64 punchouts, also a team-high. Freshman Liv Palumbo (6-3), senior Jaiden Ralston (1-5), and Michigan State transfer Ava Mullen (3-4) round out the staff for ISU.
The Cyclones own a .331 batting average and have produced 282 runs on 367 hits. The team has 146 extra-base hits with 262 RBI and has drawn 158 walks. ISU holds a collective 4.96 ERA and fields the ball at a .971 clip.
Opponent Outlook
South Dakota's Brooke Carey leads the team in hits (46), doubles (10) and batting average (.380) as she paces the offense. Sara Iburg has a team-best 20 RBI and also leads the squad in long balls with five.
The Coyote pitching staff consists of four players, with Madison Evans seeing the bulk of the work. Evans has appeared in 23 games, tossing 11 complete games. She's hurled over 120 innings and owns 113 punchouts.
The Coyotes own a .275 batting average and have produced 149 runs on 279 hits. The team has 60 extra-base hits with 130 RBI and has drawn 90 walks. South Dakota holds a collective 5.36 ERA and fields the ball at a .953 clip.
Series History
