AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State wrestling team (1-9, 1-5 Big 12) is making its final regular season road trip of the season. On Friday, the Cyclones take on No. 24 Pittsburgh (8-5, 0-3 ACC), and Big 12 foe West Virginia (2-11, 0-2 Big 12) on Sunday.
The Cyclones will look to halt their seven dual losing streak. The Cardinal and Gold dropped a pair of Big 12 contests in their last time out, falling to No. 15 Oklahoma (30-12) and No. 1 Oklahoma State (34-3).

ISU v. Pitt History
-Iowa State and Pitt have met on seven other occasions. The Cyclones hold a 5-2 record over the Panthers.
-ISU will be looking to extend its winning streak in the series to five in a row. The last time the two met was in 2004. The Cyclones won 31-7.
-Their inaugural meeting came in Jan. of 1957. Pitt won the contest, 17-8.
ISU v. WVU History
-The Mountaineers and Cyclones have squared off 16 times. Iowa State has won all but one of the meetings.
-WVU's lone win in the series came in 2003 when they defeated Iowa State in Morgantown, 22-14.
-Iowa State has won six consecutive match ups against West Virginia. Last season, the Cyclones knocked off WVU 28-11 in Ames.
Cyclone Headlines
- Kevin Jackson announced last week that after eight seasons as the Cyclones' head coach, he will be stepping down at the end of 2016-17.
- The Iowa State wrestling team will compete in a pair of road contests this weekend. The Cyclones take on No. 25 Pitt on Friday evening and then close out the weekend with their final regular season Big 12 contest, taking on West Virginia in Morgantown on Sunday.
- With a win this weekend, senior Earl Hall will become the 37th wrestler in program history to notch 100 career victories.
- Kanen Storr and Ian Parker competed in the prestigious Dave Schultz Memorial International on Feb. 2. The two freshmen shined on one of the world's biggest stages. Storr took second, while Parker took fourth. The Michigan duo each knocked off NCAA finalist Josh Kindig, and were the United States' top two finishers at 61kg.
- Storr went 3-0 en route to the finals, picking up a pin over Joey Lazor to spring board his run. In the finals, he took on 2015 Junior World Champion, Dimita Ivanov. Storr led the Bulgarian with under five seconds remaining, but surrendered a takedown in the waning seconds to drop the championship match on criteria.
- ISU is coming off a bye week. The Cardinal and Gold will be looking to break a seven-dual losing skid this weekend. In their last time out, the Cyclones fell to Big 12 foes, Oklahoma (30-12) and Oklahoma State (34-3) inside Hilton Coliseum.
- The Cyclones earned a 12th-place finish (54.5 points) at the 2016 Midlands Championships. ISU finished with three wrestlers on the podium in Earl Hall (fourth), Kanen Storr (fifth) and Lelund Weatherspoon (second.)
- Storr became just the third Cyclone since 1982 to finish on the podium as a true freshman. In 2011, Tanner Weatherman finished fifth and in 2011 Jon Reader took seventh place.
- In the 174-pound semifinals, Weatherspoon was able to avenge a loss he suffered to Alex Meyer in the Cy-Hawk Dual on Dec. 10 The 2015 All-Americans wrestled to a 9-7 decision with Weatherspoon coming out on top and earning a spot in the championship bout.
- ISU took 12th place as a team in Las Vegas with 49 team points behind top-8 finishes from Markus Simmons (eighth), Chase Straw (eighth), Lelund Weatherspoon (fourth) and Quean Smith (eighth).
- Three Cyclones are ranked in this week's national polls. Earl Hall (12, 12, 12), Lelund Weatherspoon (8, 8, 10) and Patrick Downey (10, 8, 8) all begin the weekend slotted in the top-20 in FloWrestling, TheOpenMat and Intermat rankings, respectively.
- Kanen Storr has put up five top-five finishes in tournaments and has compiled a 25-5 record with 14 bonus-point decisions. Ian Parker has garnered four top-four finishes and has pieced together a 17-8 mark this year.
- Hall (seventh), Weatherspoon (sixth) and Downey (fifth) are all coming off of All-America finishes in 2015-16. The Cyclones were one of just eight squads in the country to return three or more 2016 All-Americans.
