Iowa State Clipped In Overtime By No. 7 Florida

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State soccer team (2-6-1) fell in a 2-1 overtime battle to No. 7 Florida (7-1, 1-0 SEC) on Sunday at the Cyclone Sports Complex. The Cyclones took a 1-0 lead in the 14^th minute behind a goal by Hannah Cade. The sophomore's first goal of the season came off a beautiful corner from ISU defender Merin Mundt.

However, two goals by Gator freshman Deanne Rose would prove too much to overcome, as the Cyclones fell in the first overtime period.

Turning Point of the Game
The Gators found an equalizer in the match's 56^th minute on a goal by Rose. The forward converted an assist from Gabby Seiler to tie the game and put the onus on the Cyclones to score again.

Rose was able to strike again on a breakaway in the first overtime period, netting the golden goal that would end Iowa State's upset hopes. Rose found the back of the net on an assist from Parker Roberts to lift Florida to the 2-1 victory.

Cyclone Game Ball Goes to...
Hannah Cade. The Cyclone sophomore was all over the field on Sunday, making her presence felt far beyond the first-half goal, her first of the season. Cade ended the match with a team-high five shots, including two on goal in 89 minutes of action.

"We got off a strong start," said head coach Tony Minatta. "We've seen some lulls in games this season. Today, we fought all the way to the end, and it was unfortunate the way we gave up the goal, but we came right back at them and had numerous chances to put the game away. You can't ask for anything else against the No. 7 team in the country. We can take this moving forward and be in good position in Big 12 play."

Iowa State opens Big 12 play next weekend with a trip to Austin, Texas. The Cyclones take on the Texas Longhorns on Friday at 7 p.m. CT.
