STILLWATER, Okla. – Iowa State (23-10, 0-5 Big 12) dropped game two of its series vs. No. 11 Oklahoma State (28-5, 4-1 Big 12), 4-1, on Friday night at Cowgirl Stadium.
Senior Skyler Ramos hit her second home run of the season and Alesia Ranches went 2-of-3 at the plate with two doubles to pace the Cyclone offense.
Pitcher Ellie Spelhaug, a sophomore, had a strong outing in relief for the Cyclones, allowing no earned runs and just two hits in 3.2 innings of work. Spelhaug tallied four strikeouts on the night.

For the second game in a row, the Cowgirls scratched out the game's first run in the bottom of the second inning. Sydney Pennington drew a lead-off walk, and later scored on a RBI single by Taylor Tuck.
Alysen Febrey and Pennington each added RBI doubles in the following inning, plating three more runs, allowing Oklahoma State to jump out to a 4-0 advantage after three. Spelhaug entered to pitch midway through the inning and shut down the explosive OSU offense from that point forward.
Left fielder Skyler Ramos gave Iowa State some much-needed offensive momentum in the top of the fifth inning. The senior crushed a solo home run to lead off the frame, cutting Oklahoma State's lead to 4-1. It was Ramos' second home run of the season.
The Cyclones mounted another threat in the sixth against Oklahoma State reliever Logan Simunek. Ranches collected her second double of the day to lead-off the inning, followed by walks for Kali Gose and Ramos to load the bases. However, Simunek got out of the jam with a fly ball deep to left field as OSU held on to its 4-1 lead.
Iowa State was unable to get the bats going in the seventh, as OSU clinched game two, 4-1.

Iowa State and Oklahoma State return to Cowgirl Stadium for the series finale on Saturday. First pitch is set for Noon CT.
