Missed opportunities and critical mistakes plagued the Cyclones in the first game of the day. Iowa State committed two errors and left 10 runners on base in its 11-3 loss in five innigs.
All 11 of BYU's runs in the game, and eight of its 10 hits, came with two outs.

Iowa State got on the board first after Carli Spelhaug reached on a lead-off double before being brought home on a single from Ochoa. The Cyclones threatened for more in the second inning, but ultimately left the bases loaded.
BYU would tie the game in the bottom half of the second with a two-out, solo home run but Pond would answer the next inning with a solo blast of her own. The Cougars once again tied the game after a Cyclone throwing error moved a runner into scoring position before a two-out single evened the score.
In the fourth inning, a brilliant swim move by Skyler Ramos to avoid a tag on a stolen base attempt paid off as she was eventually brought home on a single from Mikayla Ramos to put ISU back in front, 3-2.
A miscommunication in the Cyclone infield cost Iowa State an important out in the fifth inning, a frame in which the Cougars crossed nine runs, all with two outs. BYU's seventh hit of the inning, an RBI single through the left side, delt ISU the crushing blow, ending the game via run-rule, 11-3.
Game Two – Iowa State 0, BYU 5
Iowa State struggled to get going offensively, scattering just four hits in a 5-0 defeat to BYU. The Cougars used a pair of home runs in their seven-hit performance.
Saya Swain (6-2) was given the starting nod in the circle and allowed five runs on six hits. Ellie Spelhaug gave up only one hit in her two-inning relief outing.
BYU started fast with a three-run home run in the first inning before the Cyclones were able to record an out. The Cougars used another home run, this time a solo shot, to increase their lead to 4-0 in the fourth inning.
