LINCOLN, Nebraska – Iowa State (11-14, 0-0 Big 12) fell on the road, 3-1, to Nebraska (20-9, 0-0 BIG) Wednesday evening at Bowlin Stadium. The Cyclones led through six and a half innings before a three-run homer put the Huskers in front in the bottom of the sixth.
Iowa State had its chances to put more runs on the board but ultimately finished 1-of-11 at the plate with runners in scoring position compared to Nebraska's 1-of-5 showing.
The Cyclones got on the board first by stringing together three of their five hits on the day in the third inning. Tiana Poole's RBI single up the middle is what scored ISU's lone run.
Nebraska was held scoreless until the sixth inning when Brooke Andrews sent a three-run shot over the wall in left-center field.
Saya Swain got the starting nod in the circle for ISU and tossed 4.2 scoreless with four strikeouts before giving way to Jaiden Ralston. Ralston (3-4) was tagged with the loss after allowing the go-ahead home run.
Courtney Wallace (12-5) was the pitcher of record for the Huskers after turning in a complete-game effort in which she struck out a pair.
