Cyclones Host No. 1 Sooners in Big 12 Opener

AMES, Iowa - Iowa State opens Big 12 competition against No. 1 Oklahoma this weekend, the Cyclones' first home games of the year. The series schedule has been adjusted to a 4 p.m. start time Friday and a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.

Admission to the Cyclone Sports Complex is free.

Key Storylines

The Cyclones are coming off a 3-1 defeat to Nebraska Wednesday in Lincoln. The Cyclones led through six and a half innings before a three-run homer put the Huskers in front in the bottom of the sixth.
Mikayla Ramos' 145 career RBIs rank third in Iowa State history. The senior had back-to-back 50-plus RBI seasons entering her final campaign. Ramos hit .500 and drove in seven runs in Hawaii.
ISU has two of the nation's top pitchers in strikeouts per seven innings. Saya Swain (9.8) and Jaiden Ralston (9.2) both rank among the top-40 nationally.
Swain and Ralston combined to no-hit Fordham in Hawaii. The pair struck out eight total with Swain earning the win and Ralston picking up the save.
With 51 career stolen bases, Carli Spelhaug is the first player in school history to record 20 career homers and 50 stolen bases.
