SET ONE
Iowa State began ahead 5-2 as a quartet of Cyclones put down kills, but Houston responded to take its first lead at 6-5. After a 10-10 tie, UH built three-point leads including at 18-15 deep in the set. ISU would come back to tie it at 19s after Tierney Jackson immediately sent the ball to the floor. The Cyclone run continued as ISU took a 21-19 lead but Houston followed to again flip it at 22-21. The Cougars' scoring spree continued to reach set point at 24-21. A successful ISU challenge ruled a Van Gorp attack a kill, but Houston took the next point for the set. Van Gorp led the set with six kills.
SET TWO
The Cyclones went up 11-7 after a run of four as Jackson was at the service line. Houston came within one at 11-10, but Iowa State brought the scoreboard to 15-10 after four straight kills including two by Lilly Wachholz. Iowa State went on to find a lead of 21-15, but Houston trimmed its deficit down to three to cause an ISU timeout. Houston kept pushing forward, taking a 23-22 lead after an ace. A Cougar block brought the frame to set point, and the visitors sealed the 2-0 match lead with a kill at 25-22.
SET THREE
Houston took the lead first at 5-1, while Iowa State came within one (6-5) after a Van Gorp ace. The Cougars kept control of the lead, making it 13-6 following Houston's eighth ace of the night.
