AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team is set to host its first-ever fall tournament this weekend in the Cyclone Invite.
The four Cyclones that competed in last weekend's Nebraska Invitational are set to play again this weekend in Ames, in Suzanie Pretorius, Gabriela Felix, Valeska San Martin Ramirez and Gabriella Kellner. Pretorius is coming off a 3-0 weekend in singles, while Kellner picked up her first collegiate wins in Lincoln. Kira Smith will be the fifth Cyclone competing as she'll be making her collegiate debut.
CYCLONE INVITE
There will be teams of two players each who will play a round robin against other teams of two. Each team will face another team with an 8-game doubles set (tiebreaker at 7 all), followed by two singles matches that will be best-of-3 sets with a full third set. The team who wins at least two of the three matches (doubles, singles, singles) wins the overall match.
The tournament will run from Friday through Sunday at the Iowa State Tennis Facility. Other participating teams are Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas State and Minnesota. Matches will begin at 10 a.m. every morning. Day one draws and live results can be found here.
