Porcher Sets Mile School Record at Razorback Invite

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Iowa State women and No. 6 men ended day two with a school record and a total of four top 10 program performances.
Maelle Porcher had no problem breaking the mile school record that stood since 1992 as the junior clocked 4:35.91, finishing 13th overall and as the eighth-fastest collegian. Porcher, who also set the third-best 3K program performance earlier this season, broke ISU Hall of Famer Karen Glerum's record of 4:36.43.
Silas Winders came under four in the mile after nearly doing so last week (4:00.73) clocking 3:58.36 to now rank fifth in program history. This is the senior's second time breaking four minutes as he clocked 3:59.88 last season.
In the shot put, Cam Jones made his season debut in the event with 61-11 (18.87m) to finish fourth, while Blake Veenstra hit a mark of 59-7 (18.16m) for sixth.
The women's 4x400m closed the Arkansas Invite with the sixth-fastest indoor 4x400m in program history timing in at 3:39.88. Rachel Joseph split 50.91, the second-fastest split among the 52 relay runners in the 13-team field. The fastest split of 50.46 was posted by Arkansas who went on to post a world-leading 3:27.47.
Over in Boston at the Terrier Classic, Robin Kwemoi Bera improved on his best time in the 5,000m with 13:41.76. The time is now the ninth-best performance in school history.
Following the Razorback Invite and BU Terrier Classic, the Cyclones return home to host the Iowa State Classic Saturday, Feb. 8.
