FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Iowa State made moves up the national ranks while two school records went down, including one that stood for 25 years as Cyclones competed across the nation at three meets.
In Arkansas, Daylin Williams broke the 60m hurdles program record of 7.76 set in 2001 by Andy Long with a time of 7.74. Williams finished seventh in the championship prelims, advancing with the time to the World Athletics Silver Final.
Williams then lowered the school record to 7.73, finishing fourth in the stacked final. Johnny Brackins, representing ON, won the event in 7.47, the fourth-fastest time in the world this season.
The second program record of the day was produced by the women's distance medley squad of Mercy Kibet, Jenna James, Makayla Clark and Betty Kipkore at the Husky Classic. The team went 10:54.57, bettering the 2025 record of 10:55.31 that Clark was also a part of. The time was good for seventh in the invite section, and puts them at a current ranking of 12th nationally.
Rachel Joseph went 51.53 for the 400m victory at the Tyson Invite hosted by Arkansas, also the host of NCAA Indoor Championships, as she eyes making a return trip with a top 16 national time following conference championships. The five-time All-American took 1.34 seconds off her season best to move up to currently rank sixth in the nation.
It ties her third-fastest indoor 400m time and is her T-17th-fastest time through indoor and outdoor season. Joseph owns the top 21 400m times in Iowa State history.
Sydney Willits hit a season best to improve her national ranking to No. 14 with a long jump mark of 21-2 (6.45m). Willits cemented third with the leap.
Candra King again made a jump up the all-time women's weight throw list with her new best mark of 67-8 (20.62m). King, who earlier this season made her debut at No. 5, now moves to No. 2.
Over in Seattle at the Husky Classic, Robin Kwemoi Bera came just off his No. 2-ranking ISU PR set this season (7:43.87) with a 7:44.55 3,000m to finish fifth overall in a race among pros and the best the nation has to offer. Joash Ruto hit a personal best to now rank fifth in Iowa State history with 7:48.15. Ruto took ninth overall.
In Boston at the Valentine Invite, Emanuel Galdino ran in the invite mile and clocked 4:00.01 in section one. Nathan Pestka hit a PR in the mile nearly breaking four for the first time with 4:00.78. Pestka cut nearly two seconds off his previous best set two weeks ago, and has trimmed 12 seconds off this season as he entered 2026 with a PR of 4:12.36.
