LAWRENCE, Kan. – Rachel Joseph put herself among the best in Big 12 history while Mikey McClain downed the 30-year-old 200m record and came .001 seconds off the title to close Big 12 Championships.
Joseph provided for the 2025 400m sweep securing the outdoor title to go along with her indoor title. The junior won the event convincingly by over a second with 50.81, while the next-fastest time was 51.87. Joseph becomes the 10th woman in Big 12 history to take both titles in a season.
It's her third-fastest 400m time, and she now owns the top 14 times (indoor and outdoor) in school history. Joseph also is the first Cyclone woman since Olympic gold medalist Nawal El Moutawakel to win the outdoor 400m since 1984, and third overall.

McClain, who moved up to No. 2 in school history in prelims with 20.50, once again lowered his best time with 20.41 for the program record. McClain and TCU's Kashie Crockett watched the scoreboard awaiting times as there was no clear winner, and it would be Crockett coming away with the win, 20.401 to McClain's 20.402. McClain takes silver and cut significant time off his PR through the Championships as he entered with a best of 20.68. McClain takes over Frank Nwankpa's record held since 1995 (20.45).
