AMES, Iowa – Iowa State sprinter Gus Langford has been named the 2025 Big 12 Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference announced Thursday.
This outdoor season, Langford ran a lifetime-best 46.93 400m, and was part of the 4x400m squad that posted a time of 3:06.04, qualifying them for NCAA West Prelims. The time is also the fifth-fastest in Iowa State history and fastest since 2019. Langford also ran on the 4x100m at Drake Relays as the team took third to put Relays Cup points on the board, with the Iowa State men going on to win the Cup.
Last season, the St. Paul, Minn. native earned First Team All-America distinction running the 400m leg for the seventh-place distance medley relay.
Langford holds a cumulative GPA of 3.93 as the junior earns his degree in kinesiology and health. He is also an Academic All-Big 12 First Team member and has been placed on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll every semester.
